Batuk might not ring a bill yet but you’ll learn to love them in a heartbeat. The band is a South African cult-formation that consists of two top producers and one whirlwind of a singer called Manteiga, who celebrates her femininity in an unconventionally sexy way, both in her lyrics as visually. Batuk is the kind of project that’s impossible to ignore, a Pan-African celebration of kuduro, house, techno and zouk. You’ll hear a sweet mix of Die Antwoord and Buraka Som Sistema. Doesn’t sound too bad, right?
