For several years now, Jupiter Bokondji and Okwess International have been considered the new heroes of African music. Their exhilarating and raw sound, driven by blues guitars but equally celebrating funk, afro and rock, got flooded with stars by renowned journals like The Independent and The Guardian. Fellow musicians like Damon Albarn and Warren “Bad Seeds” Ellis fell equally in love with the Congolese.
