Exclusive Belgian Hip hop show

Last year, Couleur Café created a trailblazing new hip hop concept called Niveau4. The concept was strong and simple: a selection of the best hip hop artists of Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia, united under one banner, playing an exclusive one hour show of fine rap music.

This first edition gathered some of the biggest names in the current Belgian hip hop scene: Woodie Smalls, Coely & DVTCH NORRIS, Roméo Elvis, Senamo & Seyté (of La Smala), JeanJass & Caballero and STIKSTOF.

All participants were thrilled with the outcome of this project that led to close relationships and several outstanding collaborations on their individual projects. For the youngsters at Couleur Café 2016, Niveau4 was undoubtedly one of the highlights. Even though it was scheduled on Sunday evening, it gathered over 6000 cheering people at the Univers stage. Niveau4 was lit!

This year we bring you the sequel with a new generation of fine hip hop artists. Some of them are already major names; others will play their first big festival gig. New this year: two great DJ’s will support this one-of-a-kind live concept. In June the crew will be rehearsing at Ancienne Belgique, our new partner for this unique and 100% Belgian hip hop project.

Line-up Niveau4 2017: Zwangere Guy - L'Or Du Commun - TheColorGrey - Le 77 - Darrell Cole - ISHA - Junior Goodfellaz & DJ Vega

Zwangere Guy: this guy has been making a name for himself. As the first member of STIKSTOF with his own solo project he became an instant hit on national media. His first mixtape ZWANGERSCHAPSVERLOF VOL.3 just got out and on stage he’s often surrounded by his pals Roméo Elvis, Primero (L’Or Du Commun), Le 77 and many others…

L’Or Du Commun: A Brussels rap crew with two successful albums L’Origine (2013) and L’Odyssée (2015) and a superb new release called Zeppelin coming up on May 3rd.

TheColorGrey: In March 2016 Grey released his self-produced debut EP Do the Right Thing and the videosingle Sins. It resulted in a licensing deal with Warner and the subsequent release of three singles over the last six months, among which his best known track Silence speaks. His first full-album Rebelation will appear on the 5th of May.

Le 77: one of the revelations of the Brussels hip hop scene. The collective from Laeken earned itself a loyal following and an impressive series of shows, often with Zwangere Guy in support. Their first LP C’est le 77 came out last fall.

Darrell Cole: the prodigy of Antwerp’s hip hop scene is really going places, after opening for Talib Kweli, Kid Ink and many other international rap stars with his catchy English rhymes.

ISHA: in 2010 ISHA - who was then called Psmaker - was considered one of the most remarkable artists on the scene. After a few years of silence, he’s more than back with a brand new album called La Vie Augmente.

Junior Goodfellaz: Official DJ for L’Or Du Commun and Liège based rapper Le Dé, as well as TLP’s right hand on Studio Brussel. He is considered one of the very best turntablists of his generation.

DJ Vega: Vega is a leading figure in today’s hip hop movement. The STIKSTOF DJ and Bruzz resident - with his weekly show Frontal - has played Couleur Café several times and knows just what gets the crowds going.
